I contacted CBS Entertainment and they indicated that the remaining seasons will be released later this year. Things are looking up

Paramount was offered the video rights to Bonanza, but passed them to CBS. Then you have the Viacom split and CBS took their place and paired up with Paramount some years back. The video rights for High Chaparral were messed up for years and NBC gave them to Shout Factory. The same thing with classic Universal horror films… some of them they will not release again, so they licensed out the rights to Shout Factory and Kino Lorber.

Thanks to Gerry and Rick for all the information and updates in recent posts.

It seems strange that CBS wound up owning classic NBC shows like Bonanza and Star Trek: the Original Series, but that's the corporate world we live in. I think CBS acquired Star Trek around 2006.

I give CBS credit for finally releasing Gunsmoke (originally a CBS show) in its entirety, finishing up with season 20 in 2020. I am thrilled to hear that they will be releasing Bonanza seasons 12-14 in 2022. For me Gunsmoke and Bonanza stand side by side as the two greatest westerns in the history of television.

Just last month they released all eight seasons of The Andy Griffith Show on Blu-Ray.

CBS has long refused to release seasons 4-7 of Petticoat Junction, the rural sitcom which ran on CBS 1963-1970, despite the show having a considerable fan base. The first three seasons are available, although CBS doesn't even own the black & white seasons one and two.

You must be almost as old as me regarding the Tom Dooley reference (I used to get it a lot as a kid). Anyway, I contacted CBS Entertainment on facebook and they replied with the great news. No month given just 2022. Take care

Yep. Funny to think probably hardly anybody under a certain age would get the Tom Dooley reference anymore.
