Subject: Random Episode Question

OK, this is kind of a random question, but maybe someone knows. Years ago when I was on my high school wrestling team, we had a good luck charm sort of thing that our coach called "The Stick". It looked like a block of wood covered with some paper & tape. But if you peeled back the tape, you would see 13 individual pieces of wood, one for every weight class at the time. The story, which the coach said came from an episode of Bonanza, was that any one of those pieces of wood could easily be broken, but when they were bound together, it was very difficult to break them. Obviously a metaphor for team strength & unity, and apparently in some episode of Bonanza, some bad guys were trying to get the better of one of the Cartwrights (and succeeding to some extent) when Ben pulled whichever son aside and basically enacted the aforementioned metaphor with some sticks that were lying on the ground. Does this episode ring a bell to anyone? Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much Tony S! Even though I've always been a fan of classic TV in general, I've only taken an interest in Bonanza in the last few years, and thus have always kind of wondered about the origins of this story from my youth.
