Subject: What's My Line

There are hudnreds of segments on U-Tube from the old quiz show "What's My Line?", from their original prime-time Sunday Night Run from 1950-67, (it was on Sunday Nights on CBS at 10:30- you could have watched Bonanza on NBC and then flipped over to watch first Candid Camera and then WML).

A typical show would have the panle trying to guess the professions of non-celebrities but the highlight of each show would be a "mystery gust: who would use a fake voice while the panel was blindfolded. Naturally, they preferred CBS stars rather than NBC but there were sone "western" mystery guests.

Here is a list of all the mystery guests they had:

Other TV western mystery guests I couldn't find clips for were Clint Eastwood, Hugh O'Brien and Clayton Moore. It's fun to look for WML mystery guests on U-Tube. Just type in the name and "What's My Line? They aren't all thyere but a great many of them are.

Hey, that was a fun show. I think I must have missed out on the television good days. :(

Look at one and there's something in the right-hand column you want to see, too. I often play them for an hour or more, while I'm doing something else.

And it's such a simple concept, reliant entirely on the wit of the panel, host and guests and the oldest thing in comedy: the audience knowing something that somebody on stage doesn't know.

Most of the games invovled non-celebrities. This is one of my favorites:
