I guess it was "Ballad of the Ponderosa."

I don't remember that scene real well, but I remember he was out for vengence against Ben for being on the jury possibly hanging his dad. (I'm going by memory).

I remember a scene where he was going to finally kill Ben after everyone believed he had stopped looking for vengence.

I remember him doing a lot of singing in this episode (as he did on The Virginian).

I think Randy had an old gun that his dad had owned and the gun misfired. Randy ended up shooting himself.

Preston took Ben's gun that was in the desk drawer and waited until he walked away and shot himself, so he could blame him.

Thanks, Rick. Now I remember. Kind of crazy -- he could have easily killed himself. I think he shot himself in the side (stomach) area, rather than a foot or a leg.
