(The scene opens up to a packed room where TV cameras and news reporters are all talking amongst themselves. At the front of the room there is a long table set up with a CWA backdrop behind it and a podium in the middle. Draped over the table is a white cloth with CWA’s logo all over it. There are cameras on the three adjacent sides of the room and microphones hanging over the large seating section. On the front table there are three microphones. On the right of the table there is a single microphone with a name plate in front of it that reads “Ty Dhomie”. On the left of the podium there are two microphones with the names “Lord Scot” and “CEO Mark Mckelvey”. After a few more moments Natalie comes out to the podium and requests the media’s attention. The immediately sit down and give her their full attention as she gets ready to speak.)
Natalie: Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen of the media. As you all know we are here today to hear from the Executive Committee of the CanAm Wrestling Alliance. The agenda goes as follows…first our President and fifty-one percent owner Ty Dhomie will speak in regards to a status update of the company. He will then make an announcement regarding our next major Pay Per View at the United Center in Chicago. After that we will open the floor to questions for Ty before bringing Lord Scot and Mark Mckelvey out for the remainder of the conference.
(Natalie takes a step back and grabs a bottle of water, taking a large drink. The cameras begin to roll as Natalie steps back to the podium and begins to speak.
Natalie: And now I am proud to introduce the President of CanAm Wrestling Alliance Incorporated…Mr. Ty Dhomie…
(The media is silent as Ty emerges from the back and takes his place at the podium. He removes a piece of paper from his black jacket and opens it up, placing it on the podium. He takes a deep breath as he begins to speak.)
Ty: Welcome ladies and gentlemen of the media. There are numerous reasons as to why we have decided to call this media conference for today. Let me start off with a statement about the current status of the CWA. Recently, we have been rather sloppy with our TV’s and our talent is beginning to run thin. Our StrikeZone ratings are at an all time low, and from what most can see there isn’t too much promise right now for the future of our company. We all know that we just lost another talent and our roster is also at an all time low. What I would like to stress today is that Mark and I, although we have our differences, we have one very common goal. The long-term success of the CWA. Last night we put into place a rigorous scouting and recruitment program which will begin immediately. We also finalized arrangements on our next Pay Per View, which I will get to in just one moment. We also realize that our existing roster, although quite talented, maybe a little out of gas. As a result we will go with those who feel they are able to work week in and week out. We know that this creates an advertising problem for the company, but this is a short term change in order to give the guys some rest.
(Ty picks up a bottle of water from the long table and takes some drinks as the media feverishly write in their pads. Ty steps back to the podium and arranges the microphone.)
Ty: Now onto our next Pay Per View. After many debates we have finally agreed on a name…and Hostile Territory will emanate live from the United Center on June 30th, 2002. I can tell you that Tiffany Cross will defend the CWA World Championship against whoever is able to make it out of the tournament. Lord Scot will be there, all of Triple Threat will be there…Sean Dahmer, Joshua Black, will all be there. This will kick off the next era in the CWA, and hopefully it will be that of a rejuvenated one.
(Ty sits down behind his name plate as Natalie makes her way back to the podium.)
Natalie: And we will now open the floor up to questions for Ty before Lord Scot and CEO Mark join us…yes, first row on the right…
(A short, balding, pudgy man stands up in a grey jacket and blue trousers. He has a note pad in his hand as he writes.)
Reporter 1: Josh Jackson from the Chicago Tribune. Ty what, if any, are the remedies to bring the CWA product and ratings back up to par…
Ty: Well I think what we need right now more then anything is an influx of talent. I mean when we opened those doors back in January we had a roster chock full of nothing but talent. Slowly but surely most of those guys have come and gone. By the end of January we had a roster of over thirty-five. Now we have an active roster of under fifteen, and closer to ten. Once we can get a few new names in here, I think the fans will come back.
Natalie: Next question from the middle center…
(A skinny blonde stands up. She has on a tight blouse and a short skirt.>
Reporter 2: Yes, Julie Strands from Cable 16 in Boston. Ty, do you see any of the fault for the current funk on your roster at all?
Ty: Not at all…you look around the locker room and these guys comes out week in and week out and they work their asses off. They give as much as they can and then some. The injuries we have seen show that...guys like Sean Dahmer, Havoc, J2H, and our finest lady Tiffany Cross bust their ass not only in the ring but in the gym and out in the media...take a look at Synny...he was the true definition of a World Champion...and he had the reigns while we were at our peak...
Natalie: Next question right here...
Reporter 3: Ken Daley from the Toronto Star...are you saying that Tiffany Cross has been a less then stellar champion? Or that you preferred Synnerster as Champ?
Ty: No...what I am saying is that Synnerster was a great champion...he did everything a world champ should do and more...he was all over the media promoting the CWA, he was responsible in the back office, lead by example in the locker room...Tiffany has only been champ for a short while...it’s too soon to analyse how successful her reign has been...
Natalie: Next question over on the right...
Reporter 4: Jenny Strickland from the Globe and Mail... Speaking of the world championship Ty, this upcoming week you go head to head with the Puppet Master...any thoughts...
Ty: Well I saw this kid in his first match and he was descent...but he’s going to have to be much better then descent to beat me. So far I haven’t heard a stitch from him on or off the air so we will have to see what happens, whether he shows up or not...
Reporter 4: Speaking of the tournament, with the quick retirement of Demonsbain, who would be your second round opponent if you win on Tuesday, what will be done with that match...
Ty: Well although Mark and Scot would like to make it hard on me, the only option we have right now is to give that round as a bye whoever it would have been...unfortunately it is me...which is going to come with some scrutiny...but the bye really is the only option...
Natalie: Next question back right...
Reporter 5: Jerry Stipson from the New York Times. Ty we all know what has happened between you and Lord Scot, with him already out of the tournament do you have some kind of satisfaction knowing he won’t be able to go for the gold?
Ty: Not at all...I was hoping he would advance...and advance...and advance so that we could meet in the final...that way my satisfaction would know that it was me who knocked him out of the tournament...
Natalie: That’s all the time we have for right now. Ty will take more questions in a little bit, and in just a few seconds we are going to bring Lord Scot and Mark Mckelvey out...
STAY TUNED!!
