Subject: community radio

Community radio gets it's resources from usually the university or colege that it is located at. They also have volunteers to help out with everything. Typically, comunity radio has no employees; just dedicated volunteers.

a problem that all community radio stations face is lack of funding. The campus that they are located at only gives them so much money. If they want more money for things, like in studio performaces, they usually have to start a fundraiser. The staff usually works their hardest during fundraisers. An example is KDVS at UC Davis. they have an annual fundraiser that gathers money for the station. they take pledges and offers to appeal to people. KDVS also has other money raising projects throughtout the year; such as an annual music sale where they sell music to help make money aswell as make room for the new supply of massive music that comes in everyday to there station.

All community radio stations have to have PSA's, or public sevice announcements. they are not paid to do them, but they do them as a service to the community. community radio stations also have fundraisers in order to help out minority or abused groups.
