Subject: Lesley. and All...Question about Siamese Catz & Poodle Posing

I've seen the so-called stretching pose for Siamese Catz fall out of favor on nearly every website, but here it is on yours. When I outright forbid it in my shows, people react indignantly, but I think the "stretch" is no more a pose than the Orange Shorthair's "cringe." It's a behavior of the breed, that's all. You can't even see the eye color on the cat. Regarding the Poodle pose--well, I've gone back & forth on this one with lots of people for a long time now. My extra-small Poodlez don't even assume that pose naturally. Only the Mini & Standard Poodlez will do it...so that keeps my high-generation dogz from winning top prizes?? My best dogz are basically worthless in shows because they pose with both eyes showing instead of one eye...

I was not getting any Siamese, Siamese mixes, or Poodlez and Poodle mixes entered into the showz. These breedz are being greatly overlooked in the show world because they do not 'pose' like the other breedz. This meant I needed to create special showz for them. I chose the Poodle pose based on the way I have always shown my Poodlez. I've got extra small poodles of high generations, and they will all pose with their heads turned sideways, just like their larger counterparts. I take your point about the Siamese pose. It is a behaviour, but then again so are all the poses. I chose to have 2 different poses for the Siamese because it helps new people who are just beginning with Petz to start entering some competitions. They can 'click' the camera for a Siamese and it will do one of the 2 poses. The quality of the poses, however, will be a different matter. When you say the Stretch is a behaviour of the breed, that is true, but it is a behaviour that occurs when the camera is clicked. To gain a good stretch pose is quite difficult. The Siamese, can of course also be posed the same as a normal cat, but this takes a lot of experience, which new people to the game have yet to learn. Hope this explains about my decisions for the poses.

Okay...I give up. But my small size Poodlez will NOT pose with one eye showing & open. They sit, show profile with eyes closed & chin uptilted, and then turn the head & glare at the camers.
