Subject: JTF Selection Reqs

Ok, first of all... the book "JTF-2 The Unauthorized blah blah blah" is full of complete BS. I have taken a look at it... but it is mostly full of assumptions stabbing in the dark.

Secondly, almost everyone wants to be a shooter, so the whole 2-3 years is crap too. Technically, thats what they say... but for an operator, they want Sgt or above. Also, if you are just enlisting... go for infantry. You have a much better chance of getting noticed.

There is logistical opportunities for JTF-2, in which case selection isn't as difficult. They do need weapons techs and supply techs just like every other unit. And CAT A is NOT equal opportunity for women. JTF-2 operates mainly on the front line and, despite efforts, women are still not allowed there. I'm not too sure about CAT B though.

The fitness requirements are demanding... but it is mostly mental and depends on whether or not you want to be there. I believe it is 65 situps in a minute, 60 pushups, along with 2.4 klick run in under ten minutes. The basic physical requirements are based on "Coopers Test". It's actually pretty easy if you are in shape. Also, endurance is more important than muscle.

I would not recommend attempting to get into JTF-2 just for the reason that you are SF. It is a dangerous line of work and should be left to the professionals, not the kids who want to be Steven Seagel. As long as everyone is clear on that fact before confronting a CO about it. Make sure you are doing it for the right reason.

Oh, and finally... do not contact Dwyer Hill directly. The gov't treats almost everything about JTF-2 as "Top Secret" and don't like people prying about information pertaining to the organization. I recommend talking to a CF Recruiter before anything else. I Hope this sheds some light on everything. You can contact me at my email address if you have any more questions.
