Although the cadets have a structure similar to the Forces and CIC officers are given CF commisions cadets are not part of the CF. It's does teach cadets in a military fashion and exposes them to the CF but in actualty it's not part of the CF. So I don't think time in the cadets would count. (But I'm not 100% sure).

When you join the CF you will do the normal basic as anyone else. If you are Infantry, armor or some other trades you go to infantry school or armor school then are sent to your unit.

As a former member of an Infantry Reserve unit, if I choose to go Regs I think you would still have to do basic etc..or at least do the infantry school training before going to the regiment.

So I would say No that your time in cadets would count. And even though it's a military structure cadets are nothing like the Reserves or Reg force. Some instructors will give folks hard time if they go into the Reg force and say "I was in cadets or the Reserves etc". If you do go in I wouldn't come out and say that you were in. If they ask you can say yes..but so you're not put in the spotlight I wouldn't bring it up.

Cadets - besides learning a few things like rank, marching etc is not much different then a civi joining the CF.

If you join the CF good luck and enjoy wearing the unifrom, there is no honor like it.
