Subject: Most Pointless Character?

The Angel community has been growing in leaps and bounds lately.....and now we have rumors of possible additions to the case for next season. All this growth made me wonder, who on the cast (and I don't just mean the regulars) is the most expendable? Is there a character that they could trim out to make room for some of these new ones? I don't mean to start a bashing thread by any means....just some logical observations about which characters seem to be wasting the space they are given lately.

Basically, who do you find pointless and/or boring?

Here are my thoughts:

1. Gavin!! With his complete lack of facial expressions and his monotone voice, I find him to be the most annoyingly boring "villain" EVER. He simpers, he smirks, he creates a lot of paperwork. And GEEZ does he make me miss Lindsay. *sigh* (sorry.....had a quick flash to Lindsay singing in Caritas....can you picture Gavin EVER being that fun to watch?)

2. Gunn. As much as it pains me to say this (because good GOLLY he has potential!!!)...I have come to the conclusion that Gunn has just been on the border of random "nothing much to do" land for so long now that I find myself hoping that the writers would just fish or cut bait with this character. Perhaps that is what they are trying to do with his Fred romance....but cutsey romance scenes are hardly the way to develop a character. The other day I was shocked to find myself honestly not caring if he managed to defeat the vampires at the carnival or not. Now THAT is sad.

Anyone else?

Pointless and boring???

I'd defintely put my vote in for Groo. He does do the good thing of making Angel jealous, juvenile and funny... but at a time like this.. Angel's jealousy wouldn't be the funny kind, it would be the agonizing kind ya know? If he even had time to be jealous that is. Plus Groo, even though I actually like the guy a lot.. is kinda dry. Could do with it and without it. And when a character really invokes NO reaction from you... that's not a good sign.

And it's not Mark's acting that is bad, just the character. Because Mark is actually pretty hunkalicious... when he's not Groo... Just wanted to share:)

Mark Lutz was on "Friends" last night, and he looked good. But on AtS, I don't find him all that attractive, although he looks much better without his Conan the Barbarian gear. Maybe it's because of the way he acts? Maybe because Cordy drools all over him? I don't know. I just wish that Groo were really as hunkalicious as the writer's are trying to make him out to be, then I probably could sympathize with Cordy's plight more.

How in heaven's name could I have forgotten Groo? I think his original return had its purpose in making Cordelia realize her feelings, but after that? Geesh....you guys are right. Definately over stayed his usefulness.

At this point, I am just hoping beyond hope that he is somehow evil... purely because it would mean that I won't have to watch his doofy wanderings behind Cordelia anymore.

Gavin Parks come on down... I don't know what they were going for but, they failed. He's not scary, not threatening, pretty much pointless. If they brough him in to re-create the Lilah/Lindsey sparing they failed.

Groo- Just get rid of him. He was ok in Pylea annoying but not sticking around for long. Now he's here, just as annoying and I don't like it.

Lorne/Gunn - Lorne is great but, a little goes a long way.
I really like Gunn but, they are doing him a dis-service by keeping him around with nothing to do. If they can't come up with a storyline that is good for both the character and the actor then they should get rid of them.

Yepper, know exactly what you mean, but I'll go one better. When you realize you're rootin' for the vamps (at some point) it does bring it home...doesn't it?

Then again, it could be residual anger from my darlin' Wesley's pain.
