I did think it was a pretty run-of-the-mill monster outing, with a not very scary monster to boot. There didn't seem to be any subtext for anything in it. That said, there are two things to recommend this episode. The first is Doyle explaining to Angel why charging clients for his services isn't all that horrible an idea. The second is the end scene, with Doyle and Cordelia heading to the bank while Cordelia is suggesting different ways to make Doyle have a vision. Far, far better than the similar scene in "Dear Boy" between Cordelia and Wesley.

Looking back there seems to be a pattern with ATS S~1. great eppy, ok ep, great ep, ok ep...etc. I'll hae to keep this up to see how far it goes but, it's working for eps. 1-5. Annway this was an ok, story. I never really liked the whole Monster of the Week format. But, I think we get some great insights into the characters, we see Cordy's impression of Love (guess she was still hung up on her failed relationship with Xander).

I didn't find the Dr. that scary or the scenes with him coming apart that creepy. Actually the scenes with the hands scurrying around reminded me of the Evil Dead movie with Bruce Campbell - which had me laughing.

It's funny cause at the time I really didn't like Doyle all that much, he was great for comic relief but, he didn't seem to bring much else to the show. Looking back on these eps, I really miss the C/D interactions. They were quite funny.

Doyle as they are heading out the door: “And we’ll have more of these soon.”
Cordy: “We need more of these now. Have a vision.”
Doyle: “I can’t just perform on demand.”
Cordy: “We need the clients. Have a vision.”
Doyle: “That money has corrupted you.”
Cordy: “If I hit you on the head, will you have a vision?”
Doyle: “Get away from me. You’re insane.”
Cordy: “Am not. Now will you have a vision?”
