Culling is never pleasant to witness. I took part in an elephant cull many years ago, as an onlooker, and the scene revolted me. Though I pretended to understand the reasons for killing so many marvellous animals, the actual slaughter was sickening. I can never forget that terrible experience.

Koalas are another animal species that scientists reckon should be culled. This, again, I do not understand and I cannot pretent to understand. But then again nature has its own cruel culling methods.
