In reply to: Andrea 's message, "Christi, Im curious, do you run a pageant? if so what one? You seem very "in the know" about pageants! :)" on 10:00:02 12/15/11 Thu

I live in the USA now, but when I did live in Canada I ran several pageants for many years. I ran local prelims for Miss Northern Ontario, and judged some of their prelims, then ran my own regional Miss & Teen Ontario North International and sent my girls to national pageants.
I held the rights to Miss Tourism Canada, Miss Teen Tourism Canada, Miss Model of the World Canada & Miss Bikini Canada, which I ran as an onstage event in 2000 the winner is a hugely successful figure model/competitor, I only ran it the one year and it’s not anything to do with the trashy online one that has been around since then. I selected at large and chaperoned Miss Teen Tourism Canada to compete in Europe, she made it to the top 6, and won the internet voting w00t w00t. I gave up the directorships to them as I was not seeing them as being a good fit with my girls, things were said and done that were shall we say ‘not kosher’.
I was Mrs. Canada Globe 1998 (competed in Crete, Greece in 1998, experience of a lifetime!!!!!) and have assisted several other married women in getting to Mrs. Globe, and Mrs. World. I was a director for Mrs. International in the USA before I realized it was, ummmm well, I don't want to be involved with it. I fully and wholeheartedly support the Mrs. Globe system and everything it stands for, and if anyone is ever looking for a system for married women, Mrs. Globe is absolutely IT. (Mrs. Globe has no connection to Miss Globe).
Last year when a certain someone who likes to pretend she is Miss Canada ran a prelim and promised her winners they would go to an international pageant in Jamaica, then disappeared and left everyone hanging, I stepped in and acted as liaison so that they got to go in spite of the lying 'director'. I'm not even sure how the delegates found me but they did and now I have 2 new lifetime friends :)
Recently I became the national director for Miss Trinidad & Tobago International and sent Renee Bhagwandeen to compete in China at the (real) Miss International pageant, she made top 15 and was the first black girl to do so in forever! (there has only ever been 1 black winner at miss international and there is a lot of grumbling that it is a racist pageant, hopefully Renee's placing helps quiet this rumour).
I am in the midst of launching a pageant for teens in the US heritage based pageant recently launched that may take some time to get off the ground but I think it will be fun.
I have been around a long time and know a lot of pageant directors worldwide. I'm part director and part groupie LOL. I don't know the statistics like some fans, I can't tell you who won what in which year or what colour dress they wore, but I do love the industry and always, always strive for the betterment of pageants to benefit the girls in them. I don't do it for self-glory or money, I will help any girl in any system who needs help, including warning girls to stay away from certain scammy pageants. I do not want any girl to be taken advantage of and will do what I can to protect them, help them whatever they need. And I also have no problem telling a girl she should do another pageant that may suit her needs or goals better. I like to refer to myself as an Independent Pageant Consultant and everything I do pageant wise, is for the girls :)
