In reply to: to vancouver 's message, "in response to vancouver: you must be very naive to this level of professional beauty pageant industry. This is a norm to have work done. If you make the choice to run for a national title that could lead to a universe title you need to be prepared for the option of surgery or cosmetic enhancements. If people do not agree with this than I suggest you look towards a different industry. Backlashing Denis is pointless you might as well backlash practically every national director of MU level... have you researched any of the beauty queen in Venezuela for example?? Why is their success rate so high? Yes great wardrobe, media and interview training but there are also ALOT of physical changes. Even in your pageant recycled contestants had come back with work done whether it be teeth veneers, noses, small boob jobs, botox, body shaping treatments... whatev face it.. it's NORMAL and praised!" on 22:03:31 08/02/10 Mon

I have no problem with girls entering pageants and prepping for them. My issue is that they are expecting the winners to just do it. Also the fact that in todays society, why are we not focusing on the intelligence, charity work, whole package of our Miss Canada, and not soley the physical aspect. Being Miss Universe should mean a whole lot more than who had the best plasic surgeon. We need to send winners who have natural beauty and the personality and intelligence to match...not just someone who is willing to have herself augmented.

In a beauty pageant, its about beauty. If you want to compete in a pageant that focuses on charity work than they are out there as well. And as for the comment about 'sending winners w/ natural beauty, personality and intelligence', we have - Natalie Glebova. And in case you forgot, she actually won MU.
