's message, "No disrespect, but you mention how professional the Globe people are, but you sound like the opposite. By giving your commitment to one organization, then dropping them for another makes you sound like nothing more than a crown chaser. Sorry, but that's just my opinion. Not exactly the best "Canadian spokesperson"." on 08:15:12 03/02/11 Wed
To Karen...I did not actually drop out of the Mrs. World pageant, it didn't happen. I was the 2010 representative, and did a lot to promote the pageant in Vancouver, via newspaper and charity. I have been waiting over a year now to go to the Mrs. World pageant, and there has been no information given to me on when/if it will be happening. I have worked hard to be in shape, purchased gowns, clothing, found sponsors, and prepared myself 100%. To do all this and not actually go to the pageant was quite upsetting. Not to mention that I am a mom, and have a life outside all this. My family took time off work this past October, to make sure my child was looked after, and they all lost out as it did not happen. It is too hard for me to sit and wait for a pageant to tell me it might/might not happen, its not as though i am a single woman who has all the time in the world. I contacted Mrs. World numerous times, waited patiently for an answer, and only received a response saying they didn't know. I finally made the decision to resign as Mrs. Canada World, not because of Mrs. Globe, but because I needed to move on with my life. Not to mention that my husband and I postponed our honeymoon, he took time off work, and we have postponed the planning of a second child, all because we were waiting on Mrs. World. Mrs. Globe has been very organized, and already has dates and a schedule for the pageant this August, so I am able to plan my life around it. I am not a "crown chaser", I just love the chance to represent my country and have something in my life beside being a mother that i can work toward. I have taken part in few pageants, and have not done one in over four years. I am in fact a great canadian spokesperson, and for you to assume otherwise is quite disrespectful. I am a mother, business owner, former model and work with a variety of charities, regardless of if i am competing in a pageant or not. I waited a year for Mrs. World to organize their pageant, and I think that was ample time to give it. I am prepared for a pageant, put the work in, so why should i not have the opportunity to participate in a Mrs. pageant? Instead of telling me I am unprofessional, maybe be happy that someone is representing Canada who is motivated, hard working and patriotic. I have done nothing wrong here, and for you to say so on a public board is very upsetting. Thankfully I have people like Christi who support and help me. xo
