Same sex marriage is a controversial subject, perhaps along the lines of religion and politics, should not have been on the table. Just because she has her belief is that a marriage should be between a man and a woman does not mean she is closed minded or her opinion is less valid that someone who supports it. In my opinion, dont ask the question if you dont know for sure that you will like the answer. I commend her for sticking to her beliefs knowing full well that it may cost her theh crown rather than selling out for a tiara. People are allowed to have an opinion, thats why we live in a free country. I actually think she deserves to be praised for standing up for her beliefs instead of hiding them to please the public. Political correctness my arse, if you don't support something, don't pretend you do just to seem 'right'. Thats why i believe that in a pageant it's good to have beliefs, but you should have a diplomatic answer for any controversial question. And think about Anita Bryant Miss America 1977 who had strong views against homosexuality and the gay community hated her. And in a way her sticking with the majority beliefs is in a sense selling out. Standing up for the minority is tough. Perhaps Miss Bryant did have strong views against homosexuality and just because at that time it was the popular opinion does not mean she 'sold out' if thts how she felt, thats how she flet. lets be honest here people, the pageant industry is supported by women and gay men. We all know this, we all love our queens, both kinds :) Just because someone doent belive in gay marriage doenst mean they are homophobic, or anti-gay or anything else...they justt believe that 'marriage' is not for same sex partners.
