In reply to: patricia 's message, "its funny if you notice that every mother in toddlers and tiaras and overweight. and omg the money they spend on a child for just the dress (2000) outweights the money that you can win." on 21:39:35 03/12/09 Thu

Are you implying that they are desperate for attention and living through thier kids or that fat ppl shouldn't have kids in any sport/event? Hell maybe they shouldn't be allowed to have kids....or they shouldnt be allowed out of thier houses!!!! (they arent the ones on stage they arent being judged so who really cares what they look like and if they are on stage more freaking power to them!!) I think its 'funny' that the one father is so OBVIOUSLY playing for the other team....o wait...none of that matters its not them competing!
$2000 for a competition gown, $2000 for a pair of skates (and to be truley competitive you need 2 pairs, one pair for figure one for freestyle) dresses, several per competition, several competitions per year.
OMG my nephew was in hockey, lets not even talk about how many times my sister could have paid off her house with the money they spent on his hockey!!
The fact is if you want your kid in any sport or hobby it is going to cost you money if you want to be at a competitive level. If you dont want to spend $ then its a hobby and you arent going to get the 'return on investment' that you would if you fork out for a $2000 dress, but it is still going to cost you. Is it something *I* would do personally? Not $2000...but at the A-C pageant my kid was the best dressed kid there (I had a shop I had access others didnt and it worked to our advantage). :] Would I do it again? Yup. We had a blast. And no I'm not 'overweight'. As a matter of fact, I competed that year myself LOL against 16 year olds hahaha but thats sort of another reason its sort of a sketchy event in my eyes lol
