Subject: Miss BC World Candidates

I feel so bad for many of the Miss BC World candidates. After the pageant, many of them were crying and blaming the judging panel for their loss. I feel bad for these girls, that they have such poor sportsmanship and i don't think they realize how bad this looked. I walked backstage after the event and was shocked to see this. It made me support the judges decision even more after seeing Sun Bains throw a hissy fit and start verbally attacking the pageant coordinators with quite fowl language..

I hope these girls can realize that this pageant isnt the end of their lives...

This is the Facebook msg that I send the MBW contestants and title holders: Hello Ladies,I hope you are all doing well. I just wanted to draw your attention to something. I'm not sure if you know already but there is a "Canadian Pageant Fans Message Board". People from all across the country and beyond post their comments/feelings regarding all the Canadian pageants. Please check it out http://www.voy.com/75453/ but before you do read below. I frequently browse this forum as I was interested in pageants and now many of my "pageant friends" are title holders and I enjoy reading up on their accomplishments. Some of you have already been commented on through this message board...and so have I. I will warn you that sometimes people can be brutally honest and sometimes they straight out lie. Here is the point of this message. This is what someone posted: (NT)Sun Bains05:57:37 08/17/08 Sun

I wanted to bring this up because I am a classy person and what is mentioned above is NOT me, NEVER something I would do and NEVER happened. All of the winners: I personally congratulated all of you and wished you luck for MWC. It was your night! I was actually calming down some people who felt negatively and I told them "what was meant to be will be." I would never use "fowl language" with my elders and I especially did not "verbally attack" anyone. Many of you were there and can judge for yourself.I feel very disrespected by this post and I wanted to reassure you (the candidates & title holders, whom I consider friends) that I am not a sore loser. I have won before and I have lost before, I am mature enough to handle both. As I now move onto important things in my life such as education, career, and marriage, I would like to leave the pageant world on a good note. I know that "this pageant isn't the end of my life" LOL. (NT)Sun Bains06:02:29 08/17/08 Sun
OMG that sounds so silly. I have such high aspirations for myself.I am fully aware that people are entitled to their own opinions: I have many of my own. But this is not someone's opinion, they are lieing. One of my opinions is that, yes I thought the judging at Miss BC World was unprofessional because so many of the contestants knew the judges. This is creating bias and thus is an unfair advantage/disadvantage (however your relationship may be with that judge). Also, it was unfair for all the contestants how some areas of BC had fewer candidates competing than others. Such as Northern BC, which only had one contestant and thus Ashley was crowned Miss Northern BC without any competition. (NT)Sun Bains06:05:14 08/17/08 Sun
This is just all my opinion and I totally know that that's just the way it is and too bad for whatever I think! I have sucked it up and moved on (but now I have to state all of this because of this poster's lie). I am fully aware, through my pageant experiences, that pageants aren't perfect, neither are people, neither am I. I understand this fact and it is part of the reason I am leaving pageants in my past and moving on to pursue medical school.I did not discuss my feelings with Darren or Gloria the night of the pageant. I am intelligent enough to know that it was not the place nor time. I would never try to ruin the title holders' evening, all of you were beaming! I was courteous to both Darren and Gloria as I organized how I would be getting my bike home the next morning. Darren was the one who brought something up to me and said "I'm really sorry, but I wasn't a judge." (NT)Sun Bains06:08:46 08/17/08 Sun
But I did send Darren and Gloria an email, thanking them again for the experience and telling them what a great volunteer program they run and also what I liked/disliked. This email was not sent because I am a "bitter past contestant" but it was sent because I am a fellow Miss White Rock Pageant Director. I stated that I was informing them of my opinion but it is up to them to take my advice. I was just putting it out there so that future candidates and future title holders could benefit.I am surprised by the poster's comment especially because Darren and Gloria are the only people I sent the email to. No one else would have even known that I felt this way.Regardless, I'd just like to say that I hope the title holders enjoy their year of growth. Take advantage of it all. People will always say things, sometimes it's better to ignore it but in this case I had to acknowledge it. Thank you for reading this. I will be posting it on the forum. My first post, yay!Love Sun (NT)Sun Bains06:13:49 08/17/08 Sun
This is what Katherine Slack replied to my msg: Sun, I support and agree with you 100%.Everyone that knows you, knows you have class and excellent sportsmanship skills.Good luck with everything you are pursuing & keep in touch!Love, KAT (NT)Sun Bains15:55:55 08/17/08 Sun
"Fowl language"? - It would appear that a remedial English class is in order. (NT)CSMU02:04:27 08/18/08 Mon
To Sun Bains: You are awesome, and no matter what happens, you are gorgeous and have an extremely positive future ahead of you. (NT)Drew (U know who!)02:54:43 08/18/08 Mon
Firstly, I think the Miss BC World regional pageant is a pointless. Any other girl from across the country can enter the Miss World Canada pageant as a delegate at large. Except of course is you live in BC. That’s really unfortunate because you’re only limiting a lot of amazing girls chances at a FAIR win for the national crown. I also don’t understand the reasoning why girls were divided up between regions within BC when clearly it’s unfair for the girls that live in more populated regions and truly are the better deserving contests to advance to the Miss World Canada pageant. Among the contestants this year there was a few girls over the age of 25 that competed, one of those girls won a title and will get to compete at Miss World Canada. I thought the age rules for Miss World Canada and Miss World were 17 to 24??? (NT)Pageant Critic20:19:54 08/18/08 Mon
