Subject: Elgin Wrist Watch .. SN 872 ??

 I am in possession of a waterproof Lord Elgin wrist watch. 21 jewels, diamond cut crystal with a gold case and stainless back. There is no serial number in the works except for the wording ELGIN 872, and various 21 jewel markings. The watch has a "diamond cut" crystal which is unlike I have seen in the vintage watch series. Can anyone help identify this piece or place a value on it ?? TIA !!
