Mother has a Veritas, grade 214, 18s open face left to my father, who recently passed. I have found some info on the movement thru the database and would like more info on the case, which is even more puzzling. The movement sn9375063, case #1022611 The Philadelphia Watch case Co.
Have been told case is 14k gf in (rose or pink gold)25 year guarantee. What we would like to know is more about the engraving on the back. Were the engravings personalized or bought as occupational personalizations (mass produced) like shaving mugs. This case has a bird in flight in the center of, possibly a wreath. The bird doesn't appear to be a game bird, but rather a Jay or Cardinal. My father was born in Chicago and we are not sure if this watch belonged to his father or another relative and are intrigued as to its origin. Any input would be appreciated.
