Sorry John, what I was trying to say was that the purchaser would "randomly" choose a pre-designed case that they liked, as opposed to having a case personalized by having something about them or their occupation engraved on the case. They did this with hand painted shaving mugs, where the owners trade or occupation was the theme for the painting. I,am sure there were some personalized watch cases for those who could afford it at the time and this is my biggest query at this time. If this watch belonged to my Grandfather or a close relative of his, what did this engraving mean, if anything, or was it a design made by the watch case company, that caught the eye of the purchaser?
