Bye!!

I wanted to say a last hello before I take off for Georgia. I am sitting in the midst of my bags ready to go already. I don't know who has been updated and who has not so briefly I am going to Georgia to meet a friend and we are driving up to NY together where we will see Cirque Du Soliel before heading to camp. The rest of the summer I am living and working there. Then the two of us will decide where to spend the rest of the year - while applying to graduate school which I finally decided on a major; International Education Development as a certification and Literacy development as my Masters - I hope (It kinda combines the things I am interested in...) - Either living in Boston or Seattle or another fun interesting coffee shop city.

Whew!

I really loved my internship. I had a great mentor and several additional 'mentors.' My greatest learning experience had to do with dealing and negotiating with people - sometimes I felt like a chess player trying to manipulate people so that they got along better. I should go for a degree in group dynamics and team building - I now know I have the skills.

I miss people tons. I will leave this board up for the next year and see how frequently it gets used. If it starts to fall into disuse I'll have a pout and tear it down.

Take care all of you - visit my wherever I happen to be if you happen to be there too - I will try to keep you updated through messages.

Sincerely,
Rory

Adding my Hi Low from this experience

Low - the week I was sick and expected to voice for a super strong ASL signer - I did really well but my voice was ruined for hours.

Hi - Getting dragged all over the place on the last day by the deaf students - they made me go to lunch with them (blechy teenage food but great company) then forced me to attend their graduation preparation - also the both heairng and deaf made me interpret so many nasty sign and things that I switch to fingerspelling in order to save my face from going red...

Most embarassing moment - the teacher said red virgin (talking about a painting) I heard red Vagina (bloody vagina monologues contaminated my signing) - everyone in class had looked over at me to see the sign for virgin and my team (speaking too loudly) said, "Virgin not vagina!" The student immediately spread this new embarassing moment all over school and to all the deaf programs I interpret at in the Southern Oregon ESD - well maybe not all I think the middle school was clueless but I kept getting weird grins all the rest of that day.

Hasta, Rory!
Have a great summer at camp. Good luck with all the decisions after that.
