Subject: Life in the Tundra Afterglow

ah the beauty of a pristine wilderness
To see the fish eagle as she glides down
Splash up she comes fish held firmly in talon
Off she goes singing wild songs to her babies
somewhere the tall tall trees hide her home

to watch the brown bear fossicking
she takes her cubs on forays hunting
They climb playfully up trees and rocks
She calls and they move on
They fade into yellow whispering grass

In the river the otters squeak and call each other
They are the clowns of the wilderness
One almost has to smile as we watch their antics
It seems even survival to them is a wonderful game
and in the water the game swirls on and on

Little foxes call to mates as they forage
beautiful bushy tails rush to and fro
Suddenly one jumps as if with joy
then digs frantically deep in the ground
Then a scream and lunch is served

Yes I love the Tundra for it seems everlasting
and so beautiful in the soft evening twilight
Dappled sunlight spreads fingers through green shrubbery
and orange amber skies streak across blue horizons
as we walk deeper and deeper into forest and valley

Our eyes open to the beauty and awe of the scenes before us
