what matters most
is whatever remains
midnight reflections
you remember the day
as the memories curl
past your kaleidoscope eyes
bits and pieces
fragments of light

the radio station
plays a song that you
will never like
and you prefer it that way
there's something to
not liking some things
it makes what you do like
seem so special

you sit in a dark room
and think things you would never
think, not under normal circumstance
but normal doesn’t exist anymore
nothing, will ever be the same
the focus is on how
to deal with the changes
reinvent my normalcy
and survive the cancer
