Velvet Curtain Of the Night Sky

Don't you just love the solitude of a dark night
Looking up at the brilliant dots in a velveteen canopy
A whole universe of tiny colored lights in the soft rhythm of night music
Ahh yes the crickets know them for they sing their soft serenade
A love song dedicated to the night sky in all its iridescence
Soft pale light, brilliant flashing balls of fire and life
A momentary flash trail of a 'wishing star' catches the eye

If we could only travel forever in this beautiful scene
Merge and become part of its very existence serene
Our Journey to the Horse head Nebula or A spiraling plexus
What marvels we could and would see
Star traveling on a night sea surrounded by the soft glow of heaven's magic
Onward to the infinite destination the mind's eye travels,
Rainbows of colour set against deep vermilion backgrounds
Seagreen Haloes arc out and and caress millions of planets
Ah yes my night sky has a lot to offer

But, just for now I will just drink her beauty from afar
Watching her, my night sky with an awe of wonder and excitement
O beauty has surpassed the glory of this sight
I can only imagine the things that live and exist ...
