Spunk,Play,Captain,Dodge,Klondike,and Serenity -- rocsun, 13:06:34 09/02/02 Mon
I rode Spunk english he did really good today, I didn't lunge him. I took him over a little cross-rail but he rushed the jump so I tried again, this time 2 in a row. He had a really long jump, so I think I'll forget jumping him. But on the flat he did wonderful.
I did western pleasure with Play then cantered him around the barrels for barrel racing, then I took him on the hack trails and let him out at a gallop :-)
I did english pleasure with Captain then did some dressage moves and a little test I made up
I did western pleasure with Dodge (but perfer english) then switched to english and jumped a little 18in.-2ft course he did better then I expected.I took him on the hack trails bare back afterword.
I jumped a course at 2.3 with Klondike I LUV HIM He got all his changes and jumped the jumps perfectly, then I worked on trotting over an oxer and he wanted to canter but listened very well.
I backed Serenity today(I think that what its called) when I lay on his back so he gets used to weight. He shifted his butt around alot then when I tried to get on him he reared up and I fell out of the way, so I tried it again and again and again and finally he cooperated and I lay on his back but only for a little, so he didn't get restless, I'll work with him everyday on the same thing.

I jumped a course set at 2.6-3.3 with Ginger, I jumped a sinple course first then made it more complicated(tight turns,ect.)She was wonderful
I rode Dakota we worked english on the flat mainly but we jumped a couple little 18inch jumps. I love her on the flat
I took Silver on the race track and I breezed her for a full mile and a 1/4 I think she is soon ready for her 1st race but she still needs to be ridden alot.
I rode Spirit just on the flat, she got the wrong leads I think I need to work with her alot more. She is a wonderful horse though.
I worked with Surf on the flat she just wanted to go on the cross-country track though. I took her on the trails afterword and galloped her for fun!!!!
I rode Sunny on the flat. when I first bought her I bred her right away but she is awesome to ride.

Riding -- CH, 17:38:11 08/28/02 Wed
I began with riding River.He was excellent today,I have been working with him in Western Pleasure.I need to work with him a little bit more in Western.
Next was Angel,I only did light riding with her today because Ace was following along.Ace I am teaching to accept the halter and lead,he is a quick learner,very good temperment like his father(River).
As usual Dancer was full of energy and ready to go,She and I have been working on Jumping,she is moving along at a good pace.After we were finished with jumping practice I walked her around for a few laps to cool down.
Nia wasn't as ready to go today as much as she usually is,At first I walked her around to make sure she was ok,after a bit she got back to acting herself and we did some light work with the Barrels.
Last I took Domingo out for some laps of racing.He was somewhat unruly when I first took him out,bucked a few times and pulled.When we finally got out to the track he
was ready to go,Most of the laps were galloping instead of all out running.After we were finished with that I walked him around to cool down from the work.

I took out Cinny and we started riding on the outdoor pleasure/hack trails. It was a great senery, with all the trees and flowers. Me and Cinny had a great time, and when we got back, i put Cinny back into her stall, and brushed her.We had a great day!!

I rode around on Challenge in the oudoor arena. I hooked tyler up with a lead rope to her bridle so he could get excersise too. As I rode them I remembered Cedar my first horse. I can't wait until I ride her again!

I rode Play english and we worked in the outdoor plesure ring. He did good, and does better at english then I thought he would do, wonderful mover!!!
I lunged Spunk before I rode him cuz I haven't ridden him much, he bucked a couple times, then spooked at something and stopped and looked at me so I rode him then. He is so awesome, I rode him english!! He has a very smooth canter, he got all his leads.
I lunged Serenty, he is getting to trust me a little more every day. I trotted him over ground poles just to see how he would do. He didn't go over them at first then when he did he bucked and bucked then spooked. So I just walked him over them.

I took Sunny back in the pleasure ring and she did great she really seemd like she would like to do cross-country.
I lunged Spunk again because he has a little Spunk:-) He bucked a couple times then calmed down.When I rode him he let out a couple bucks at the trot, then when I cantered him he was wonderful!!!
I took Play in the jumping arena and when he saw the jumps he got really excited.I warmed him up then started jumping. I had the jumps set at 2ft. when I jumped a couple jumps, I raised them to 2.3 he did so good!! I love jumping him. He is a good jumper.
I took Dodge on the trails and walked, trotted and cantered him for 2 miles. He was tired when we came back so I put him in the excersise pool to cool down a little.
I did a couple dressage tests with Captain.Then I took him in the pleasure ring and worked on the flat.
I rode Klondike in the pleasure ring and rode him english in the flat a little then I took him in the jumping ring and jumped a course set at 2ft.

Today I rode Tyler, I couldn't ride Cedar because she was in foal. Tyler and I went on the outdoor practice steeplechasing thing. It was'nt until then that I noticed that he was a terrific jumper. He kept trying to slow down a bit, but I didn't let him. When we cantering he'd stop in front of the jumps but he di well at the trot! We'll need to practice mor.

I jumped a course set at 3ft. with Ginger. She did so well today!! I jumped the course 2 times.I also worked a little on halter with her.
I worked on english pleasure with Dakota, she kept getting the wrong left lead so I worked a long time with he ron that,I also worked on halter with her.
I took Silver on the racetrack she got really full of herself and reared up a couple times,so I walked her around then took her in the starting gate and let her out the whole way, she really flew, I took her in the excersise pool to cool her down.
I took Spirit on the cross-country trakc, she needed alot of leg to go over some of the jumps but other then that did pretty well.
I took Surf on the cross-country track also and boy dod she fly, I actually had to work to slow her down!!
I took Sunny in the pleasure ring and worked on the flat.

I worked with Twist on racing, she really flew today!! I love riding her. I walked her on the hack trails to cool her down.
I spent time with Nico in his stall I also brushed him.
I rode Mickey in the pleasure ring. We wroked on western pleasure. I think he does really well.
I rode Apollo english, in the pleasure ring. I also jumped a course with him.
I did barrel racing with King, he went so fast!!
I jumped a course set at 2ft. with Thorn. He did better then I thought he would our first time jumping he chipped and knoked down a couple rails. But our third time he did perfect.
I jumped the same course with Blue, he does really well jumping.
I did reining with Buster, he is good at it.
I did english pleasure with Chester he got 1 wrong lead but other then that did pretty good.
I gave each horse a carrot after riding them.

Today I went out on the outdoor pleasure trails to ride Cedar. We troted and cantered a little over som logs and enjoyed the trail. She spooked once when a rabbit darted across the trail but otherwise she was just fine.

I weaned Summer and Noble today. It was hard with an extra foal but I managed. First I turned Sunny out then quick ran in and got Summer and Noble. They weren't very happy, but I was surprised they weren't as bad a Spunk was. :-)
They kept turning trying to look at Sunny and she kept whinnying for them and they were whinnying for her.Then they started trying to bite me but I quick put them on the weanling paddock they kept galloping right up to the fence then stopping right in front of it, they weren't happy at all. But after 45min. they calmed down.

I took Skye's horses out on the hack trails to ride them. They all behaved very well. I gave each of them a good workout(cantering too).
My horses:
I worked with Dodge on pleasure, I also jumped him over a small course. He can have a little speed, but I just need to sit up and hes wonderful.
I worked with Captain on a beginner dressage test a couple times then we jumped a course set at 2ft-2.6 to work on showjumping. He is an amazing jumper!!!! but has alot of speed he clears the jumps by alot.
I took Silver on the race track, I galloped her the whole mile, she did very good. She will be a good racer once she gets back in the racing spirit!!!:-) I took her on the hack trails after for a nice relaxing cool down.

I took Twist on the indoor race track and did a slow gallop the whole mile. I took her on the hack trails afterword to cool her down.
I rode Mickey western in the indoor pleasure ring. He did soooooo good today(mainly because the heat made him a little tired).
I rode Apollo english in the indoor pleasure ring (he managed the heat very well it didn't seem to bother him much)
I rode King in the indoor plaesure ring we worked on western pleasure. He did really good I like riding him.
I didi a dressage test with Thorn, hes getting good at dressage but needs more practice on some advanced moves.
I rode Blue english, in the indoor pleasure arena. Wonderful mover!!!
I rode Chester and Buster western they didn't like the heat so I didn't work them long and put them in the excersise pool afterword for 10min.

I rode my horse around the outdoor race track. he did okay, except for an occasional crow hop because he was feeling way too good! He ran the BEST he has EVER ran!!!! I then took him in the pool to cool off! He soooooooo thoroughly enjoyed it!!!!!!!!!!!! He was playing around in the water, and having fun!!!And, sooooooooooo did I! We are really starting to come together!

I started off the day by Riding Domingo around the outdoor race track.He did quite well and listened to me.
Then I rode River,he bucked a few times though when I first got on him.After a few minutes he settled down and I took him 5 laps around the arena at a trot.
Angel rode well,I started off doing a few laps at a gallop and then did figure eights at a trot then finished off with a slow walk.
Dancer was a bit high strung and easily spooked today.She was not co-operating very well at first.I had to walk her around w/the lead first then saddled her.I took her around the arena several times to get off some of the excess energy she also seemed to have.Then once she calmed down I did some laps at a lope then slowed down to a trot then walk.

I took all my horses and Skye's horses in the excersise pool for 5-10min. each
I talked to Nico for 45min. in his stall. He seems so sad
:-(
I worked with Serenity on the bridle again. It was even harder because he was really hot and sweaty so finally I got the bridle on and led him around outside for a little. Then I brought him back in (kept his bridle on) and put the saddle on he was pretty good with that but when I tightened the girth he tried to bite me so I had to tighten it slowly. Then I walked him for about 10min. To get used to the feeling of the tack. I then lunged him which was very hard!! Finally when I think he had enough The he took off at a full speed gallop And the stirrups (which I might take off next time) started hitting him in the ribs which he didn't like and he bucked a few times and reared then I think he was tired out and stopped.I was just planning on walking and trotting him. I took his tack off and cooled him down. Then worked with him a little in the wash stall while hosing him down.

I took Silver on the race track. I can tell she has alot more endurance to her then before. I will keep working her though.
I took Spirit on the cross-country track. She was really good today. But I still need to work with her if we want to do cross-country.
I did a novice dressage test with Captain. I was amazed how well we both did. He was so calm when I was riding him.
I took him on the hack trails after.
I worked on driving with Dakota. She was a little spunky today. So I only drove her for a little then rode her english in the outdoor pleasure arena.
I took Surf on the cross-country track and she did SO GOOD!!! she wasn't too fast but cleared the jumps wonderfully. She is just perfect for the sport. I took her on the hack trails bareback afterword.
I worked with Serenity on some training things. I am trying to work with him more and more so I can hopefully soon ride him. I try not to work too long though so he doesn't get bored.

Mickey was nice and slow when we rode western today.
I rode Apollo english on the flat. She was a little lazy too but did really well again.
King and me had a good time doing western pleasure. He is perfect for western pleasure.
I worked with Thorn on dressage. We did a beginner test and he did OK but needs more practice.
Blue had alot of extra energy when we did english pleasure. So I gave him a long work-out then he was tired.
I worked on western pleasure with Chester and Buster.

I drove Dakota. She did well again and had the perfect strides.
I took Surf on the cross-country track and she did really good and flew over all the jumps. She was a little high strung at the end because I was holding her back so she wouldn't go to fast. So I took her in the excersise pool.
I rode Dodge in the outdoor jumping arena we jumped a course set at 1ft-18in. he did really well.JUst needs alot of leg but doesn't need a crop. Or he will go to fast.

I rode Twist on the race track. I slow galloped her for 3/4mile. Then for 1/4mile I let her out al the way. She can go really fast.
I spent some time talking to Nico.
I rode Mickey western and he does really well. But sometimes he wants to go a little faster but he is easy to slow down.
I just worked with Apollo on english just on the flat. He does really well and gets the correct lead and has a wonderful stride.
When I worked on western pleasure with King he just wanted to go work on barrel racing but finally he gave up and we had a nice ride.
I worked on jumping with Thorn. He did OK but he needs to get a rhythm so he doesn't knock down rails. Our 2nd time around the course he did really well and we ended on that.
I worked on english pleasure with Blue. He does really well but sometimes gets a little fast.
I took Chester and Buster out on the trails for a nice relaxing ride.I rode Buster bareback.

I tried riding Spunk for the 1st time. He lives up o his name:-) He was a little tense when I tried to get on him but then when I walked him around he did good. Then we worked on trotting and cantering. I have to get used to his trot. But his canter is so smooth he bucked a little and wanted to go faster. But I thought he did pretty good since it was our 1st ride.
I worked with Serenity for a long time he is beginning to get used to me being around him every day.

I put a saddle on Serenity and then tried to get the bridle on him!!! He threw his head up so many times then finally I got it on then when I stuck my fingers in his mouth to get the bit in he threw his head up again and pulled my arm with it. So I tried about 7 more times and finally when I was about to give up I got the entire bridle on (bit and all). But all that didn't tire Serenity out so I lunged him and boy did he go!!!! So I just led him around at a walk for a while then trotted him on the lunge line. I decided to end there for today. So I worked on ground manners a little more with him then let him in his stall to relax...
I took Silver on the race track this time she was really high strung!! She tried to bolt a couple times and I didn't know what her problem was. So I walk,trotted,and cantered her around the track keeping her calm then I did a slow gallop for 3/4 of a mile then let her out for 1/4 mile. I gave her a nice looooong cool down.
I jumped a course with set at 2.6-3ft with Captain. Man can he jump!! I worked on keeping him slow between jumps,and not rushing jumps. The 3rd time we did it he did so good but was a little fast at the beginning.

I jumped a course with Toy in the outdoor jumping arena. He knoked down 1 rail the 1st time then the 2nd time he did perfectly.
I took Surf on the cross-country track. She did really good and didn't go too fast but was at a good speed.
I rode Dakota in the outdoor pleasure arena and we worked on english pleasure. Then I tried driving her and she did SOOOOO good i have to drive her more often.
I rode Play western on the flat a little then we worked on barrel racing, cantering around the barrels first, then galloping HE GOES SOOOOOOO FAST!!!!!!!

I rode all of Skyes horses today
I jumped a course with Twist, she knoked down 1 rail.But had a lot of speed.
I talked to Nico in his stall a little
I rode Mickey western for 15min. But he wanted to go fast!!! Then I drove him a little.
I took Apollo on the Endurance trails for 45min.
I worked on barrle racing with King for 1/2hour. we also worked on western pleasure.
I jumped a course with Thorn. He is very strong but a terrific jumper, he cleared the 2ft. fences by ALOT
I jumped a course with Blue and he went right around had a perfect round!!!
I did barrel racing and wesern pleasure with Buster. He went so fast around the baarrels
I did english on the flat with Chester then jumped a course. He needed alot of leg to get over the jumps but did pretty well.
I gave each horse a treat after riding them:-)

I jumped a course with Ginger at 2ft-3ft she did so well. She went at the correct speed(I don't really need a crop with her anymore). I worked on halter with her after.
I took Dodge in the pleasure ring and we worked on walk/trot/canter. Then I took him on the trails.
I took Spirit in the pleasure ring also, she got the wrong lead sometimes but then once I figured out what was the easiest way to get the correct lead on her we got them all right!!!!
I worked with Serenity for a pretty long time.

I jumped a course set at 2.6-3ft with Ginger. She hit one rail but that was because she took off too early. Sometimes she rushes certain fences, I just need to sit back.
I rode Surf on the cross-country track, she goes so fast!!!!!!!! I need to slow her down before the jumps so she doesn't hurt herself.I also took Spirit on the croos-country track, she needs a little more leg but goes at a good speed.
I took Silver on the race track. She was a little spooky today but then calmed down. I breezed her for 1/2 mile. She has a lot of speed.

Indoor dressage arena>
(Bert) Worked on flying lead changes, 15 & 20 m circles, and getting more bend in his hind end. Did great on shoulderins on right, but needs a tad more work on left side.
Indoor jumping arena>
(Mel) Warmed up with 2 footers, worked on small water jumps, and mid-air lead changes over the jumps. He did great with my aids, and was very cooperative during this morning's training.

yesterday I rode all my horses on the hack trails and jumped a course with Ginger.
Today(Saturday):
Twist:
I rode Twist on the flat for 15min. then jumped a course set at 2.6 a couple times.
Nico:
I went in Nico's stall today and talked to him a little. At first when I went in he didn't like it and I didn't want to stress him out so I talked to him outside his stall a little. Then I went in and brushed him.
Mickey:
I worked on driving with Mickey for a little. Then rode him english for 15min.
Apollo:
I took Apollo in the oudoor pleasure arena and we worked on the flat for 15min. then I jumped a course with him a couple times.
King:
I took King in the oudoor barrel racing arena and we trotted,cantered and galloped the barrels once. Then I gave him an extra long cool down.
Thorn:
I took Thorn in the outdoor jumping arena and warmed him up for 15min. at a w/t and canter. Then jumped a corse set at 1ft-2ft jumps. I gave him a nice long cool-down also.
Blue:
I jumped Blue on a course set at 2ft-2.9. He knocked 1 rail down. We jumped it 3 times.
Buster:
I worked on barrle racing with Buster.
Chester:
I rode Chester on the cross-country course.

I rode Mickey in the outdoor pleasure arena, I rode him western for 15min. doing simple things. Then I rode him english and just walked trotted and cantered over ground poles and stuff like that.
I took Apollo in the outdoor jumping arena and jumped a few jumps then took him on the endurance trails and we did mostly trotting and a litle cantering.
I took King in the oudoor jumping ring and jumped for 15min. then I took him in the oudoor barrel racing arena and we cantered and trotted around the barrels even though he wanted to gallop.
I took Thorn on the endurance trails and we trotted most of the time and just did a little cantering.
I took Blue in the oudoor jumping arena and we jumped a course 2 times then just gave him a nice long cool down working on the flat.
I rode Buster in the outdoor barrel racing arena and we galloped the barrels once then cantered them twice and just trotted and walked around the arena to cool him down.
I rode Chester in the outdoor jumping arena and we jumped a course 1 time then I rode him in the outdoor pleasure arena and we did a little western pleasure.
I gave all Skye's horses a treat after we were finished.

Riding Thunder and Cory -- Fierywind, 13:58:11 07/01/02 Mon
I took Thunder out onto the Steeplechasing practice track and he went SOOOOOO FAST!!!! I guess I fed him a bit too much oats today and he's so excited that he completed the whole chourse in under 4 minutes, that's almost as fast as a thoroughbred!!! Later, after a bit of rest I took him out to the outdoor show jumpin arean and he jumped a perfect round at 4 and 5ft highs, I's starting to train him to jump the 6ft highs and he's doing great!! Then I took him out again and did a bit of advanced dressage movements like change leads at every stride. After that all his excitments are pretty much down to normal level so I just turned him out and allowed him to have freetime.
I took Cory out into the outside jumping arean and tried him over the 4ft highs, he seem to be jumping easily and swiftly over the 4fts so I tried him on the 5fts, he seem a bit unsure about it and went over akwardly. After a bit of rest I took him into the ring again and tried him over the 5ft high, he seem to be sure this time an went over it swiftly but knoked down one pole, I'll still be training him to go over the 5fts cause I know it's not too high for him. After some more jumping his day is up and I just turned him out.
I took Deja out to the outdoor barrel arean and tested her on the barrels just to see how well is she at it since she's new, she did a perfect job at it, saved every second there is to be saved. After that I just turned her out.

I rode Silver on the endurance trails today and we galloped a lot so I am soon going to take her on the track and work.
I rode Captain in the dressage ring and we did some simple dressage moves and a dressage test that was pretty simple and Captain did so good he didn't spook, buck or anything crazy.
I rode Ginger in the Outdoor jumping ring and we jumped a course with 3-3.6ft jumps. She did so good!!! I only felt her hesitate a little coming to a ['scary'] jump but I just tapped her with my crop and she kept going.
I took Surf on the cross-country course and we jumped that she went really FAST today for some reason. She cleared the one jump by about 3ft!!! But she did really well.
I took Serenity in the outdoor pleasure ring and lunged him. He didn't do very well though when I made him trot he tried to canter then when I'd slow him down he would buck and he reared a couple of times!!!!!! I also got him used to some weight on his back by leaning against his back but he pushed me over but finally he gave up.
I hosed down all of my horses, and the horses I didn't ride or work with got bathes.

I rode Labatt Blue today, I didn't think that he was much of a trail horse, and he's not all that great, but today when i was with him out there, adn we came to a river, he practically jumped in it. He loves water! It was really funny watching him play in it.

I weaned Spunk today. He wasn't happy at all. He tried to drag me, kick me, bite me. Everything he could possibly do. I turned him out in the weanling paddock, he whinnied for Dakota a few times and Dakota whinnied for him. Finally after a little while they both seemed fine. Spunk found another foal to play with.

I rode Surf on the cross-country track. I let her go pretty fast but not so fast that she would get hurt. I gave her a nice long walk afterword and rode her bareback on the hack trails.
I rode Silver on the endurance trails we warmed up for a while then I cantered her for a little then I let her gallop for about 1/4 mile. To get ready for racing, I will probally enter her in 1 more endurance race though.
I rode Ginger in the oudoor jumping ring we jumped a very challenging course with most of the jumps 3ft. and some were at 3.3 I warmed her up at a walk trot and canter then I took her over a 2.6 jump and a 3ft. jump as another warm-up. She only knocked 1 rail down and that was over 1 of the 3.3 jumps. But then I rode her bareback on the hack trails

I led Spunk around, and tied him in the cross-ties. He moved around alot. But he's just learning. I brushed him and took him in the wash stall and ran some water on his legs and a little on his neck.

I led Serenity around today before I brought him out I sprayed some fly spray on him. he didn't like that to much but after a couple tries he got used to it. I led him around in the indoor pleasure ring too. Then brought him back in the cross-tied I took him in the wash stall. It took me a W H I L E to get him into the wash stall but finally he walked in. I just ran some water on his legs and he laid his ears flat back and tried to bite. Then I took a wet sponge and sponged him off a little so he would get used to that.
I also walked Spunk around a little. Then took him in the wash stall. I tried to get Spunk in the wash stall. But it was very hard. Finally I got a carrot and he followed me in very slowly. Then I just hosed him off. He didn't like that and moved around alot. And spooked when the water touched him.
I also gave Ginger, Spirit,and Surf bathes.

I led Serenity around again. He was a little spooky but did OK. He almost reared once and he could have taken off when I got him to his feet but I just held onto his halter VERY tightly. Then I led him around in the indoor and outdoor pleasure arenas.I took him in the cross-ties again and brushed him.He hated when I tried to pick up his feet, he kept moving around and one time he kicked, so I just touched his legs so he would get used to the feeling of it for when I need to pick his feet.
I took Silver out and just let her walk and trot to get ready for the endurance race.

I led Serenity around the property a little. He is VERY STRONG. I also tied him in the cross-ties and touched his legs and face and brushed him a little. He almost broke the cross-tie the first time I started brushing his neck but I was prepared and just tugged on the lead rope that I had hooked to him just in a case like this one. I will be working with him the next couple of days too.

I took Captain out on the trail again to jump the stream jump. 1st we jumped a log then we just cantered and trotted in big circles then I let Captain get a drink from the stream and get used to it he was OK with it. I turned him around and started heading toward it I quickly smacked him with a crop and we went right over it. Then I did it again coming from the other direction and I didn't need my crop.
I took Silver out and we worked for an hour but I didn't want to tire her out so we trtted most of the time.
I rode Surf over the stream jump that I took Captain over. I then took Surf in the Outdoor Jumping Arena and jumped 2.6 jumps that were pretty wide just to get ready for
cross-country. I will take her out on the course some other time.

I rode Spitit in the indoor pleasure arena and we wroked on lots of transitions from canter to trot, trot to walk etc. etc. We basically did just the same flatwork.
I took Ginger in the Indoor Pleasure ring and worked on flat work then I took her in the indoor jumping ring and jumped a course.
Captain was crazy today so I brought him out and lunged him but he was still spooky so I let him go in the indoor pleasure ring just to run around a little.
I rode Silver in the indoor pleasure arena just to give her some excersise for the endurance race.

I rode Spirit for 30 min. in the oudoor jumping ring a little we just jumped cross-rails she did OK. Sometimes she landed on the wrong lead but since she can do auto-changes thats no big deal. I just rode around the jumps and did flat work for 15min. I took her on the hack trails for a little afterword.

I rode Silver in the outdoor jumping arena a little. We just jumped cross-rails. Then we worked on cantering and trotting around the ring. So if I ever wany to take her in a show. Then I took her out on the endurance trails and we trotted for a little walked for 5min. them we cantered for almost a mile. We trotted halfway back then walked halfway back.
I rode Captain on the trails today and we jumped over some logs.(I want to see how he does with some mini cross-country jumps). He just flew over them. Then we did that a few more times then I found a log in front of a stream that I want to jump tomarrow (its about 3ft. wide) I will come out later and see if it is safe.

Today I took my mustang stallion Nico for a ride. First I lunged him and then worked on his jumping in the outdoor arena. He is coming along very nicely lately. His obedience is improving and he's not so flighty. Then as a reward I took him on the trails and cooled off in a stream and with a gallop.

I rode Ginger in the oudoor pleasure arena a little. We just worked for 15 min. though. then I set up a course in the outdoor jumping arena with 9 jumps (4 were set at 3ft) She knoked down 2 rails the 1st round. Then I did it again and she did perfectly.
I rode Captain, jumping at 18 in. I tried to trot some of the fences but Captain wanted to just GO!!!!! I think I might start doing 3-day eventing with him, because he has done some dressage before and he is big enough to jump cross-country jumps and show jumping-jumps easily and he has plenty of speed for cross-country also. I will have to start working him like I work Silver (but noe AS much) so he gets in shape for his new training.But I will see how he does.
I rode Dakota today we just walked and trotted. I worked her for 1/2 hour.
I led Spunk a little around the property just to get him used to his surroundings. He spooked at some things but did great otherwise.

I rode all my horses on the hack trails today. Just to give them a nice relaxing work out. I galloped Silver for just a little since this was just fun (not strenus (sp) work like we usually do). When we got back I gave each horse an apple.

I rode Silver in the outdoor pleasure arena for 20 min. just to warm up at a walk and trot. Then we went out on the endurance trails and cantered for 20 min. and trotted for 10.min then we walked for 5 min. and cantered for another 5 min.Then I walked her gor 10 min. bareback and after I gave her a bath.
I rode Captain on the trails we jumped some logs and streams but once he spooked at a squirrel who crossed in front of us and I wasn't expected it but I didn't fall off.
I rode Ginger in the Oudoor Jumping Arena we jumped 3 feet today!!! I onnly had 2, 3 feet jumps set up though. But Ginger did very well.

I rode Don't Stop Movin in the indoor barrel racing arena, I would have ridden him in the outdoor arena, except the ground was a little slick because of the weather. He did very well! He went a little wide on the 2nd barrel, but besides that, he did really well! He spooked once when the doors to the arena moved a little because of the rain.

I rode Silver on the endurance trails I cantered her for 15 min. then we walked for 10 min. and trotted for 10min. then we cantered again for 30 min. I gave her a nice long cool down and a bath afterword.
I rode Spirit in the oudoor jumping arena and worked her over a few cavalettis then I did a few cross-rails. She is such a good, quiet horse. ferword I took her on the hack trails for 15 min.
I rode Captain in the outdoor jumping arena we jumped a 5 jump course the highest was 1.6. After just a few rounds of that I took him in the oudoor pleasure arena and worked on the flat a little. Sometimes Captain tries to go so fast and it takes alot of power to slow down. But were getting there.

I rode Ginger in the indoor pleasure arena to work on flying changes she knew how to do them pretty well though then I just worked her on the flat for 45 min.
She was dying to jump though.
I also gave Dakota a quick excercise in the indoor pleasure arena. I walked and trotted for a half an hour. I would have cantered but Spunk was there so I just gave her a quick work-out.
I am going to work my other horses tomarrow since it is a little wet out because I don't feel like riding inside.

I trotted Red around some barrels today.He started loping halfway and I just let him.He enjoyed the workout.I put him in his stall after riding him.

Then I rode Ginger in the oudoor jumping arena we worked at 2.6 again today she was just a little lazy and just needed a few taps with the crop then started to have fun.We jumped the course for 2 times then I took her into the outdoor pleasure arena and just worked on the flat.
I rode Captain in the outdoor jumping arena we worked on 1ft. today and we jumped a course (the highest was 1.6) it was only 3 jumps though but it was a great start for Captain. We are having some trouble with leads.

I rode Dakota in the indoor pleasure arena we walked and trotted she really wanted to canter though but I just kept it at a trot today, and of course Spunk was there too she didn't want to stay by Dakota's side she was going all around the arena. I took Captain out on the trails and jumped a few logs for fun.

Jazz-Barrels-I held Jazz down to a trot going around the barrels cuz I haven't practiced barrel racing on her for a while.She did great.I put her back in her stall after riding her.
Dancer-Racing-I walked her through the gates to get her used to them.Then, I closed them whileb she was in them.She was nervous at first but soon calmed down.I put her back in her stall after riding her.
Toy-Jumping-I took Toy over some 3ft. jumps. He chipped one pole but cleared the rest.I put him back in his stall after riding him.
Khol-Jumping-We went over some 2 1/2 ft. jumps but had to quit early because of his continuous (10 times) refusal to jump the last 2 jumps.I put him back in his stall after riding him.
Darkie-Jumping-We went over some 3ft. jumps.He chipped one but cleared all the others with room to spare.I turned him out after riding him.
Red-Saddleseat-I worked mainly on his canter initiation and getting a slow and smooth canter out of him.Eventually, I got a perfect canter out of him.After that, I turned him out.
Bama-Saddleseat-We mainly went at his pace.I could not find anything to work on with him.I guess that means he was trained well.I put him back in his stall after riding him.

Dollar-English Pleasure-We walked, trotted, and cantered. While we were cantering, he spooked and I fell. Needless to say, I got back on and worked with him.I put him back in his stall after riding him.
Eagle-Jumping-We went over 2ft. jumps. He cleared every jump without any problems at all.I put him back in his stall after riding him.
Dodge-English Pleasure-We mainly worked on his canter because he kept swapping leads.I finally figured out that I was telling him to, so I stopped.Great ride.I put him back in his stall after riding him.
Toby-Jumping-We went over 2 1/2 ft. jumps. He cleared them all too easily.I think we'll go a little bit higher next time.

Then I rode Captain in the indoor pleasure arena I trotted him over some cavalettis too.
I know he will be able to jump very high jumps someday.
Then I rode Ginger in the indoor jumping arena over jumps that were 2.3 she is really starting to enjoy jumping every time I work with her. I even jumped a course with 6 jumps and she didn't get tired.
After that I worked Silver in the indoor pleasure arena I want to start giving her long work-outs I am hoping to race her someday. I rode her on the flat for and hour then I decided I wasn't going to jump her yet. That I would give her the same work-outs that I just did for a week then start jumping. Some days that it is nicer out I will take her on the trails and gallop her.

I took all my horses out on trail rides today.
Before I took Ginger out I jumped her at 2.3 today she is really coming along well. I lunged Captain over some cavelettis (sp) he did pretty well but I think he would rather be ridden then lunged. I lunged Dakota too but just at a walk so she would get back in shape after being pregnant and of course her filly had to come too she was just trying to bite the lunge line. After each horse was finished I gave them a carrot.

I rode Darkie Bareback all around the property because he's still not used to it. He spooked some at a moving bush but recovered quickly.
I also rode Dream bareback. We went on some trails and cantered lots. He's really beginning to get used to the stable.

1:00-Niki-Jumping- I took Niki over some 3 ft. jumps. After chipping the first 4, i lowered them to 2 1/2 ft. She did fine after that.
1:30-Roxxy-Western- I worked with Roxxy on her jog because she was always trying to go faster than i wanted. The solution was to let her go as fast as she wanted because she had so much energy. After that, she did fine.
2:00-Dodge-Trails- I took Dodge on some trails for fun. He spooked at a squirrel, but was fine otherwise. We did do some cantering.
2:30-Dream-Bareback on Trails- I took Dream over the trails so that he could get used to the stable. Then we went around the barn at a jog to let have a look around there. Hes settling in nicely.
3:00-Toby-Racing- I took Toby over to the racing course and practiced with him. He went at a canter around the whole track. He didn't have much energy after that.
3:30-BREAK!
4:00-*Red*-Saddleseat- I worked with Red on his canter initiation. With the exception of stepping of into the wrong lead once, he did fine. I think he's really getting the hang of it.
4:30-Darkie-Bareback- I took Darkie all around the barn and any where i could think of that he might not see on a regular basis. He did great. We even went on some trails and he did fine.
5:00-Bama-Saddlseat- I worked with Bama on his saddleseat, after spending 10 minutes trying to get the bit into his mouth.He did great.
5:30-Khol-Jumping- I took Khol over some 3ft. jumps. He chipped first jump, but cleared all of the others with space to spare.
6:00-Toy-English- I worked with Toy on his English Pleasure. He gave me no problems at all.

2:30-Dream-Trails- What can i say? His name states his behavior, he's a dream. He didn't even work up a sweat.
3:00-Jazz-Barrels- We did trotting around the barrels because she had very little energy.
3:30-Majestic-western pleasure- Wow!she's got energy today. i loped her alot, and since she was energetic, we went a little faster, too.
4:00-Bama-Saddleseat- Well, I got the bit in his mouth. He and i did some cantering, but mainly trotting. I was working on my diagonals most of the time.
4:30-Darkie-Bareback- I took this little sorcerer around the area since he's new. He's getting used to it quickly. We loped some, but somehow he pushed it up to a fast canter.
5:00-Whew!30 minute break
5:30-Khol-Western pleasure- We jogged and loped alot. He behaved like an angel.
6:00-Red-Bareback- What can i say? He was the most angelic of the whole group.We went at a steady canter for about 3 minutes. Then he slowed down to a fast trot. We hardly walked.

Niki, Roxxy, Dodge, Patches, Majestic, Jazz, Dancer, Toy, Bama, Khol, and Red -- Kelsey, 06:28:10 04/08/02 Mon
Ok, i'm helping Angel out with her horses, so here goes.
Niki-I took Niki over some 2ft. jumps today.She spooked at the first jump but was fine the rest of the time.
Roxxy-I did some western with Roxxy. We loped some, but she was tired so nut much loping.She did perfect.
Dodge-I took Dodge out on some trails. He was great and gave me no problems.
Patches-I did some driving with Patches. He gave absolutely no problems.
Majestic- I took Majestic over some 2 1/2ft. jumps. She started on the wrong lead, but we got that fixed quickly. She was a dream to work with.
Jazz-I took Jazz over the racing course. She ran 1:23 for 3/4 mile.
Dancer- I did some english pleasure with Dancer. She was a perfect angel.
Toy- I worked with Toy on his western. He had lots of energy, so we loped alot, but i could tell he wanted to go faster. Other than that, he was great.
Bama- I worked with Bama on bareback after giving up on trying to get the bit into his mouth for Saddleseat. He worked great for bareback, though.
Khol-I took Khol over the cross country course. he did great.
*~*Red*~*- I worked Red in Saddleseat instead of Bama. He did great. I think he's finally got the proper canter initiation down.

I rode Apollo today for about an hour on the Endurance trails. He is in beggining endurance and he's really taking a shine to it! I love endurance and he's the only horse I have that does it. I took him around one of the trails a bit and worked on cantering up hills. It was great fun!

Twist is expecting her baby soon, but she can still be ridden gently, so that's what I did. I took her on a nice easy trail, bareback, and took my time. She is really wide already..it's so fun riding her. She is so gentle; I hope her baby will come alright, and that it'l be healthy and everything. I rode her for about three quarters of an hour and then turned her back out in the mare's paddock.

I rode Ginger for about 45 min. today on the flat she did perfectly too then I took her into the Outdoor Jumping Arena we were jumping at 2ft. 3in.
she did good except for one time when we were jumping she came down on the wrong lead but she fixed it before I even had a chance. After I rode I took her bareback out on the trails for a half and hour.
Then I rode Captain in the Outdoor Pleasure Arena he is coming along fantasticly and soon I will try him on some cross-rails he does pretty good with the leads just once or twice he got it wrong (I am also working on flying changes with him) I took him on te trails too but a bird russled some leaves and he just spooked a little.

I worked with Patches on driving today. He didn't want to jog at all, but we did do some fast trotting. Other than that, he did fine.
I worked with Jazz on her racing. she did great except for spooking some. We clocked(i timed it) 1:56 for 3/4 mile.
Magic and I worked on western pleasure a little bit. We didn't do any loping because she was feeling a little tired.
Since Bama was doing great today, i took him out on some trails bareback. He was marvelous. He even let a squirrel join us(the squirrel rode him too).
I worked with Sunny on her english pleasure. She is doing great. We had no problems.

Today I have a show with Nico, but that's in the afternoon and not too far away so in the morning I took Mickey out and saddled him up to do some jumping in the outdoor arena. He is really good, except that I need to watch his speed, he loves going fast and that's not always required. So we worked on taht for a bit, then i stopped and turned him loose in the stallion pasture.

Today, after riding Chester and getting a work out I took Buster out of his stall and got on bareback. I took him out to the trails where i had just come from with Chester, and headed for the creek. I rode him into a deeper part of it and headed up it. His tail was stretched out behind him on the water and i had taken my boots off and rolled up my pants. The water was up to my knees and cool and refreshing. Buster started playing with it. He would blow into it and then splash it around with his nose. Finally we turned back, nice and cooled down.

Today was such a beautiful day!! I took Chester out and rode him in the outdoor jumping arena. He is really good actually. All he needs to work on is his concentration. He likes to watch things. But he has an awesome jump! Man does he fly! I did about an hour of that and then I took him out on the trails as a reward. We jumped a few small logs, and crossed this creek, then found an open stretch where we could gallop. It was great! Like flying!

I rode Dakota in the Outdoor Jumping Arena just over cross-rails she did good but sometimes when we would canter them she would change leads after we'd jump. I have to really work on leads with her. (she does fine with leads on the flat)

Hey babygurl. I rode Cookie in the outdoor jumping arena. She was really energetic and really enjoyed the excerise. We were jumping 2 and 3ft jumps.
I also rode Surf in the outdoor pleasure arena. She also enjoyed the excerise. We trotted over poles and worked on her canter. She felt really good.

I rode Ginger in the Indoor Jumping Arena we jumped 2 feet today she did great she even had a little bit of energy because I haven't ridden her in a while I have to start working on getting the correct lead because sometimes she switches after we go over a jump.

I rode Magic in english pleasure today. She was highly spirited, so we cantered alot!She is doing fabulous.
After riding Magic, I rode Toy over some 2ft. jumps. He is having some trouble getting his leads, but i will work with him on that.
I then proceeded to ride Red in Saddleseat. We worked on the proper canter initiation. He has definitly improved.

I rode Dakota in the Outdoor Pleasure Arena I tried western with her today I think I will probally stick with english because when we were jogging sometimes I could tell that she wanted to go faster. I will have to try driving her sometimes also.
I just took Ginger out on the trails today to give her a break I could tell she liked it and for once didn't go to slow we did some galloping she loved it!!!!

I jumped Ginger at 1 ft. yesterday she did OK I had to hit her pretty hard with the crop to get her moving but otherwise she did great.
I am still thinking about entering her in the jumping class at the show.
