Stepping out of the dry goods store, he adjusts his hat, and walks over to the bay horse tied to the hitching post. He ties his saddlebags back on, then prepares to mount. Pausing, he leans against the saddle, looking back into the store, thinking of Paula. Shaking his head, he mounts, rather reluctantly, and sighs, talking to himself. "You know better than that. Should know better than thinking things like that. Course you can't stay, and she can't go." Patting his horse on the neck, he gathers the reins, and turns the bay around, walking slowly out of town.
