I was principal at Essex Junction HS from 1959-1961. Would love to hear from students from that time period.

I worked with Erald MEDLAR, a really great teacher who will be missed.

Dear Mr Conrad,

It is an honor to have you visit our site.

I wasn't even born until 1958, which is the year before you wrote that you served as principal of Essex Junction HS, but I find it fascinating that you just happened across our forum and have asked for input from students from your tenure.

Feel free to report here further on your time as principal. It would be great to hear about what you remember of Essex Junction in those days.

I remember Robinson's service station at the 5 corners was on the corner of Pearl and Park, on the lot where the Chittenden bank is now. There must be someone out there with a photo of this awesome structure. It was obviously a home that was used for this purpose and probably got converted for this use during the heyday of the motor car!

I remember sitting on a bench on the opposite corner in 1974; I was all by myself on my 16th birthday, drinking Boone's Farm apple wine out of a wineskin that I carried under my coat. I think my latest girl had just dumped me and I was drowning my sorrows! Ah to be 16 again! If I could go back in time, I'd tell myself, forget about the girl, junior, buckle down in school and shoot for the moon! You've got one shot to impact your generation; how much and how far you go tomorrow depends on the choices you make today!

To those who stumble in this portal today, I say, don't let your mistakes of yesterday dictate your future...
