Sorry Rick... they were designed different. They will
not interchange. I had a early AU 52. The AU's were designed
and manufactured after Mr. Mack left. Bill Turley was the CEO. At this time Compass had financial concerns and the AU design engineer was laid off as well as others as to be brief... Compass was broke. It was John Earle who had engineered the AU's to compete with the Whites Goldmaster Series... at the last minute so to speak before Compass had to let Mr. Earle go (no money) minute the flexing problem that made the eliptical 9-inch DD noisy when bumped was about solved by Mr. Earle.

However... there were/are AU users who were willing to put up with the noise and have done well with the AU's. One other modification that Mr. Earle was not able to finish was to change the batteries from 9-volts to less expenensive AA batteries that were cheaper and gave much better life...
