It seems that fewer & fewer people these days are willing to do any kind of real exploring, taking off for weeks/months at a time into the wilderness. I've met plenty of "kids" that are all gung ho, till they get out there. then the whinin' & wankin' starts. We've become a culture of convenience & interdependence. Self sufficiency seems to be subtly discouraged. I meet many more older folks that are into tromping off into the unknown. Problem is, the ol' ticker starts to go & various other maladied associated with old age have set in with them, limiting their options. Pretty soon it will be all city folk.. welcome to the gulag. ..Willy. BTW I have my dog, so I'm never alone and starved for intelligent conversation.
