Yea--- the possible Robinson venture is the "buzz" of the local area.

I grew up in Ely. My dad worked for both Kennecott and Consolidated as an underground miner.

My first year at Mackay was in 1948--- Carpenter, Gianella,
Palmer, Smyth, and Hammond. The old guard.

Then the new guard--- Lintz, Larson, Slemmons, McGurk.
Graduated in 1954-- then military--- ROTC Commission. Started out as a dumb ol platoon leader--- combat command "B" Sixth Armored Division Ft Leonard Wood.

Unit was deactivated to an advanced eingineer basic training unit. Platoon, Ex officer, then a Co Commander. Last 90 days out to pasture as committee chief
of engineer power tools. All in an advanced engineering training unit.

From about 1957 through 1982 I did "Moonlighting" consulting (much of it underground in old mines) and learned a lot--- much more--- from the miners.

I became involved as a soils engineer/technician starting in 1967 and slowly became more involved in this and drifted out of consulting work.

My background was more into milling. Flotation of copper, molly, tungsten. Then diatomaceous earth. Then Kaiser Steel in the finish end.

Finally at age 38 I made a major career change: A dumb ol shop teacher; life credentual, secondary education. Mostly
junior high level: drafting, woodshop, metalshop, electricity, etc. Nights--- starting in 1969--- I moonlighted as earth science, lapidary, prospecting classes. Even autoshop. All in Fontana/Rialto school districts. Also UC(Riverside)

Built a Model "T" Speedster/Racer in 1972 out of junk and registered it as a 1914. Ran it at hill climbs, 200 and 500 mile runs, and even an actual dirt track race in Calistoga in 1974. Punched in around the big "O" at Ontario, At Riverside, the Orange Show raceway (where I nearly lost it to my embarrassment on turn-3) Dragstrips: Antique Nationals at Irwindale, El Torro, Carlsbad, LA Fairgrounds.

Put it in storage--- daughters garage; however, after a dozen years my son-in-law thought I should sell it as it was buried under stuff. Just sold it last month and it is now in Texas on display. It was capable of pulling 87mph at 3700 rpm. But only for a short distance as splash oiling and center main bearing would fail. I look back on this in dismay as a model T is very primitive. I still have a 1915 Touring in my garage--- just wasting away.

December issue ICMJ somewhere.
