Yep, we're losing a lot of the old timers and with them a lot of knowledge. Not only of techniques but mainly places to hunt. Many times they knew of spots that produced to older coin machines or VLF types or even dry washers, but have never been hunted with the more modern PI machines.

Havasu Bill is a good example. He and Little Bill pounded Rye Patch and were in on some of the original findings at Keystone with the first Minelab 2000s. Bill retired a few years ago due to health and was just starting to post some of his accumulated knowledge when he suddenly died about 2 months ago. Smokey Joe and Jim Straight are still out there along with a few others but they keep their mouths shut. It's too bad no one writes down some of their stuff.
