Nugget hunting at night in buzztail country is what I call "risky business," I know, 'cause I do it from time to time. Take a good latern and flashlight, detect within the range of the lantern, and move the lantern to the new spot you wish to hunt. Use headphones that DO NOT totally seal off outside noise; you want to HEAR an angry buzztail before coming to within fang reach. But then again, they don't always rattle before striking; both the rattlenasties that tagged me didn't buzz first. Fortunately for me, both were "blanks," i.e. no venom. My dad got tagged, full venom, even with good care he still has a scar on his leg about the size of a silver dollar. Me, my venomless scars are almost invisible. In my area several folks, mostly gardeners, have missing fingers, when they got tagged while reaching into plants, etc. The bitten finger was lost due to tissue destruction. Take care! HH Jim P.S Randy, how do you like your new toy?
