Actually any "ratio" depends upon the area you chose to detect.

In the pediments of w. Nevada you can go for days w/o a trash signal and the nugget-trash ration pretty good.

In many desert areas of multiple BLM use, where "chukkers" abound one 12-ga birdshot can throw out about 220 small pellets.

In certain Alaska areas it is only the "old-timer" bits of tool-shavings and bulldozer shards.

In a shallow scraping it is usually only the bulldozer shards and maybe a nut or bolt; sometimes old-timer square nails and wire.

With a 2200d or the Infinium I have pulled out trash that has worked down several feet.

Out on some of the Rand Slope there is not much trash other than .22 calibre.
