Hello Dennis

I just checked out the attributes of the Golden Hawk--- one of my "senior moments," and took a moment to recall. It is a Deluxe version of the Minelab XT-18000 which is an improved version of the 17000.

The Golden Hawk sort of looks like the Minelab SD-2000 series in outward appearance. Three frequencies to choose; 6.4, 20 and 60 kHz. (17000 only 6.4 and 32, but 18000 has the same 6.4 20, 60 kHz)

Actually, your Golden Hawk may be an earlier version of the Eureka Gold (same three frequencies to choose) 6.4, 20, 60. The Eureka Gold is now just being introduced.

In what frequency did you detect the 1/2 ounce nugget at 16-inches?

It should be a fairly easy machine to understand. I really like my 17000 in 32 and possibly the 20 will be better.

I did not buy a Golden Hawk , too expensive for me. However, I have used a 17000 and can borrow an 18000 anytime. The MSRP for the Eureka Gold is $995.
