There really isn't much to improve on with the vSat. Even the newer machines have very little in the way of improvements over the original vSat where VLF (LF) type machines are concerned. It's just a matter of getting some time in with the machine and learning it's "language". There is no better way than by hands-on experience.

The two absolute best books on practical use of the Goldmaster series are volumes I and II of Larry Sallee's "ZIP-ZIP" books. They will teach you alot about detecting in general and detector operation, and are good information manuals for any type of gold machine and gold detecting, but were written with the Goldmaster series in mind, covering all of the operational aspects and controls found on those machines. Both books are highly recommended, but especially the first volume if you are just getting started. The second backtracks some previously covered ground from volume I, and involves more of the psychological aspects of gold hunting.

Books by Jim Straight and Jim McCulloch are also good reads, and none of the ones mentioned are directed toward advertising hype or brand loyalty. Just good, basic training material for newcomer and to remind some of the seasoned "geezers" some of what they might have forgotten over the years.

Ralph
