There are various ways that may be effective? I just rub the coil and box with a laundry static guard such as used in dryer. There is also a spray and I have been told chaining is helpful against static. It seems that some detectors may be more prone to the effect of static more than others. The interior of the control box is supposed to be grounded. Some boxes are metal, other plastic,

About 1992, I carelessly pulled an analog needle out of its seat. I discovered the needle would follow my moving finger and stupidly moved my finger across the meter face and the needle swung about half open and stuck.

Sent it into the factory and the repair dept had a good laugh. Considered a freak event as normally the plastic case was grounded intenally by a piece of metal against the case which had pulled loose.

Someone--- anyone help out here. More details and better info needed.
