John, the GMT is a vastly better machine than the Goldmaster II. The GMT goes deeper, and has a much wider ground balance range, making it far more suitable for use in "bad" ground than the Golmaster II, or Goldmaster V-Sat, for that matter. As for depth comparisons with the Goldmaster 3, and Goldmaster 4/B, the GMT is as deep, but, offers more precise ground balancing, thus in theory at least, the GMT will go a "bit" deeper. Now, about the smaller coil issue: for the record, there IS a smaller GMT coil: the Hot Foot. Two inches wide, and nine inches long, of a DD design, it gets 90% of the depth of the standard 10" DD on bigger nuggets, but the Hot Foot gets BETTER depth than the standard DD on really small nuggets. (Which is, of course, one of the main reasons for wanting a smaller coil) How the new White's small coil will compete with teh Hot Foot, I don't know; I haven't yet read Steve's posting as I type this. As for comparing the GMT to any of the Goldbugs, past and present: the GMT is mo' bettah. HH Jim
