Yeah they tend to avoid anything too big to eat, and if you see one there was ten you didn't see as they saw or heard your vibrations first. Sidewinders bury themselves often with just their nostrils and eyes sticking out of the sand. You can always tell where one is buried ( in sand ) by the crooked little trail they leave. They ain't no bigger than a minute but nonetheless a rattler, and deserving the same respect.

Mojave Greens are the deadliest of the rattlers ( along with the prairie rattler ) because their venom is ten times more potent than all other rattlers. If you get nailed by one get to the hospital quick unless you have an anti-venin kit, know how to use it, and know you aren't allergic to it. If you are it will kill you quicker than the bite. Avoid the cut, suck, and spit method of treatment as more people wind up with infections worse than the bite.
