Thanks, Ralph & Jim, for the great info. I have noticed that the Mini DD and my SD2100 11"dd coils both seem to gather a charge, then release as a "blat" from time to time...It doesn't so much detract from beeping as it just suprises...One of the things also I'll be including in my review for Jimmy S. is that the coil bodies are black ABS plastic...By the time the temps had hit 106 in the shade, the coil surface was approaching untouchable...my guess 130-140 degrees..The MiniDD sensitivity and background noise was a little higher and the falsing a bit more pronounced....I've thought of white or silver spray paint...Cheers, Ron
