Subject: The "surprise factor" will be just that.....
In reply to: mlgdave 's message, "Re: Is GOLD on it's way ?" on 10:46:25 03/28/02 Thu

I think gold has been supressed / depressed for so long now, that when the big move upward gets under way, it will be a big surprise to most everyone..... even those of us who are expecting it.

I can remember up (and down) days in the gold market back in late 1979 and early 1980 or $100 a pop and more, so it's not something that is "impossible". It's just a matter of the right market conditions in stocks and currencies, and a solid shift in investor sentiment and understanding that there are times in every cycle when the precious metals are one of the very few remaining places to park your assets to keep from (continuing) to lose your shirt. This very well may be one of those times, and with both gold and silver still being relatively inexpensive in the scheme of things, and a VERY THIN market to begin with (supply wise), it won't take a very high percentage of the "investment funds" floating around to cause one of those "surprise" spikes that are remembered from the past.

Some suggest that this may be the last we will see of sub-$300 gold prices or sub-$5 silver prices. That very well may be, but only time will tell. We may all look back at these prices and kick ourselves for not being fully invested in PMs.

Just remember though...... The basic rule of investing:

Buy low and sell high. But to do so, you have to BUY low first........

Ralph
