Well I guess to answer your rather broad question I would say the west is best as far as nugget shooting goes in my experience with CA, NV, AZ, and NM leading the pack.

There are outfits that take folks out to get a "feel" for prospecting and Uncle Ron's AZ-Gold is one such operation. He is in Arizona and can be reached at AZ-Gold There are others around also and perhaps some more will be posted for you.
