I try not to be a salesman, but since you asked...

My favorite at the moment is the Hodan 36" Walking Pick. I like the long reach and it does double as a walking stick on steep hills. They also make shorter models with magnets on the ends of the handles. The Mag-Na-Picks are also popular. Another favorite is the Estwing Hoe Pick, just reintroduced as the Geo-Paleo Pick. It's probably one of the best picks for digging, but I find it has enough metal with it's tubular steel handle to bit a bit of a pain while detecting. You have to toss it away to detect your excavation.
