Pete, depth enhancer devices DO work, however, MOST only double the dB (decibel) output of your current headphones. Therefore, you may pay $50.00 to $90.00 to double say, 25 dB output, to 50 dB output. Furthermore, MOST signal enhancing devices have a "false threshold" of their own, which largely masks the true threshold from the detector, which is NOT a good thing. The BEST option is to get quality, high performance headphones. The most popular prospecting headphones are the Koss TD-81's, and their private-label variants, the Kellyco Accusound, etc. According to Kellyco's statistics, they offer 90 ohm impedence, and 100 dB output. They have lifetime warranty, and dual adjustments. They retail for $69.95; You can usually get them a bit cheaper. Hope this helps; HH Jim
