a little off topic here, but..............Im pretty much a dredger now, and dont do very much nugget shooting anymore. I have people come ask me all the time, "where is the gold?". In a stream that HASNT been worked you can use the tried and true methods to find gold, where you would expect them to be............inside corners, tail end of fast water, accretion bars, on bedrock.......................
HOWEVER, on a stream that has had prospecting in it, THROW OUT WHAT YOU THINK YOU KNOW.............YOUR NOT THE FIRST GUY ON THE STREAM. The guy that was there before you got the gold, form "where it was supposed to be". You need to realize your not the first guy, the second, nor the 3rd or 50th, that looked behind that BIG ROCK, and thought the dead water behind it should be a good gold drop. I have had much more success on streams that have had dredges in them by going to the "least likley" spots............outside corners, head of fast water, etc...............
Similkameen river is probably the best example of this, and good gold can still be had, by "going where you dont think the gold is", because everyone else thought the same thing, but...........5 million years ago, the spot you think shouldnt have gold, may have in fact been the old river channel.
