Subject: Celebrity backlash - whatta ya think?

I just read an article on the abc website about celebrities complaining because of the backlash they are receiving for protesting the war.

http://abcnews.go.com/sections/wnt/US/iraq_celebrity030420.html

Here's my thoughts on it. We live in a wonderful country where we are entilted to the right to say whatever we want. I like that. However, as in any situation, what we say CAN have some sort of consequence to it. For example, Trent Lott's comments which eventually cost him his political position.... David Duke's association with the KKK... and now, Tim Robbins anti-war stance.

As someone who's comments HAVE to be guarded due to my occupation, I know that what we THINK cannot always be verbalized without consequences. So, personally, I have no sympathy for a celebrity who uses their celebrity status to push forward their views. Ted Nugent certainly has grabbed the disdain of the Politically Correct due to his pro-gun stance. Yet, as someone who owns a handgun, and hunts when I want to, I side with him.

So, whatta ya think on the subject? Should we send them a little cheese to go with their whines?
