We have approximately 148 young American men and women who will not return from Iraq. The site above lists these heroes who died for the freedom of people they did not even know, some of whom still harbor feelings of mindless religious intolerance and anti-American hatred. These are the people our young people should want to emulate, not some drug-using, female-abusing, bigot whose main claim to fame is stringing together dirty words in a parody of rhyme or playing some child's game for a lot of money. These are our true "American Idols" and we will feel their loss.

I would remind you all that our efforts in Iraq were truly part of a "Coalition of the Willing." Tony Blair of Great Britain stood steadfast in the face of opposition, even within his own political party, and did what is right. Members of Great Britain's armed forces shared the battlefield duties in Iraq. John Howard of Australia did the same thing. Once again, we could count on the Aussies to be there when the shooting war started. Spain's young President stood firm with us in the battle of disrepute in the Security Council. There were Spanish troops on the battlefield as well.

The perfidy of the French, Russians and Germans was not limited to the UN proceedings. They attempted unsuccessfully to block NATO forces from joining our coalition. They failed because of nations like Poland and other eastern bloc nations who remember what it was like to live under the thumb of the dictatorship of the former Soviet Union. They too contributed troops to our efforts in Iraq.

We thank them all and will work to see to it that our nation remembers those who worked against us and treat them accordingly just as we, as a nation, will remember those who did join our campaign to free the world of Saddam Hussein and his henchmen. Unlike the French, we show our gratitude and do not discard it easily.

I have located a site that lists the members of the United Kingdom forces who also died in this campaign. I offer the link in hopes that you will also go there. These too are our "everyday heroes."
