As you have been told, Voy Forums was down over the past weekend. They had planned massive "upgrades" to their hardware and their software. An unexpected crash of one of their servers convinced them to go ahead with the switchover all at one time... hardware and software. We have been told those changes are now complete and that we can expect "to see some noticeable differences in performance"
They are right, We do notice some differences now...
Instead of taking twice as long as it ought for pages to load, their new "Style Sheets" features mean pages take FOUR TO FIVE TIMES AS LONG TO LOAD AS THEY OUGHT!
Herb, Sagie-poo, Draggie, Honey and I have also discovered another "improvement." It seems that, when you post you still get a screen that allows you to "APPROVE/MODIFY" your message prior to it being officially posted. This is as before. Also, as before, you must click on "APPROVE" at the bottom of the message box to have it show up in the main index of messages.
The "improvement" is spectacular. Now, EVERY TIME someone clicks on "APPROVE," they get a "This page cannot be displayed" error message. We have discovered another oddity in this "improvement." Should you do as most of us would normally do, click on our browser's "BACK" button and try again, the same thing happens... again and again.
Here's the catch! Every time you click on "APPROVE," the message IS posted, even though you don't see it. Should you work your way back to the main index of messages, you will find duplicates of your post equal to the number of times you clicked on "APPROVE." Isn't that special?
Until Voy's technoflops figure out how to "fix" their "improvements," let me suggest that you go through the normal steps for posting a message... HOWEVER... when you get the "This page cannot be displayed" error message, use your browser's "BACK" button. Then go to the top of the "APPROVE/MODIFY" page and click on the link that says "MAIN INDEX." When you do, you'll find your post has been posted.
We apologize for the delays and problems. Perhaps VOY will eventually figure it all out... we hope. Of course, I always hope I will awake tomorrow morning young, good looking and rich. That hasn't happened yet either.
