Subject: I hope it will be Broadcast

What really holds our interest these days, is it beautiful women in beautiful clothes, well I suppose but there is so much of that available. We support and root for personalities that is why shows like Survivor and Big Brother do well in comparison to Miss UNiverse, USA Teen USA. So why dosen't CBS do something simlar for Miss Universe, focus on 15 -20 of the candidiates with strong personalites and interesting stories and follow them around for the three weeks and edit down to five 30 minute reality based programes and show these a week before the pageant. Some will make the cut and some won;t but people may tune in to see if their girl makes or not. I mean all of the delgates will appear at some time on the special programme but the focus will be on a specific 15- 20 who will share their stories, high point and low points, insecurites, fears, there could be a confession room where that could talk secretly about other delegates. Real life drama is always a good seller. This was done in Trinidad and Tobago and there was so much hype about the show and those women became mini celebrities for just being themselves. People like to root for individuals they find relateable and who show human strenghts and weaknesses. The big ticket in advertising these days is Emotion. In the Miss U's quest to have a perfectly coordinated show they lose some of the emotion. People want to see, real people, real stories the real going ons behind the scenes. First give them the reality and then give them a magnificant fantasy on the night of May 29th, but we will know that Miss So and So is really a shy girl but can turn into a DIVA On stage, we will know that Miss X Land is really a cold Ice princess and not the warm fun loving girl she appers to be on competition night and we will know the Miss P islands is the real and genuine thing and cry "How could she not make the ten?". We would get involved becuse we can relate to personalites not gowns and make up. Those things are great to watch but we also want the substance behind the sparkle.

What do you all think ?

A 'Guess who will be the winner' lottery i think would definitely catch the attention of the Australian audience. Maybe give out a price pot of 1 million dollars. It will definitely work for the ratings! (NT) --
