Subject: Property Agent wants to start charging me for GST

The agent managing my property has a contract (management agency agreement) with me that was created before the introduction of GST. The agent has sent me a letter indicating that she needs to register for gst from 1 october 2003 and that GST will now have to be charged on all services provided in the management agency agreement.

The agent has asked me to sign an "authority for deduction of GST charges". Is it true that I need to allow her to charge me for GST on services? If it is true why does she require my authority? If I don't sign it can she charge me anyway?
